Get the most from every bag with this simple pour-over brewing guide from Raven Horse Co. Start with fresh, cold water and adjust to taste.
Pour-Over Brewing Basics
- Coffee-to-water ratio: 1:16 — about 25g of coffee to 400ml of water.
- Grind size: Medium-fine, like table salt.
- Brew time: 3–4 minutes total, pouring slowly in circles.
Tips for a Better Cup
- Grind just before brewing when you can.
- Use water just off the boil (about 195–205°F / 90–96°C).
- Rinse paper filters before brewing to avoid a papery taste.
- If your cup tastes sour or weak, try a finer grind; if it tastes bitter, go coarser.
